Making a Difference in the Industry
While working as pilots at FedEx in the 2000s, we learned that by using online training for pilots instead of using standard classroom training, we were able to save a lot of time and money. And online training was just as good, if not better. It produced standardized content that our pilots could review from their own devices with audio, video and text, along with a multitude of reports that were useful for FAA and future training.
That experience led us to this challenge:
Could we build a high quality FAA-required general subject training online for pilots who fly for hire at a price point that would cover expenses and provide reasonable return for our effort? And was there a market for such a product?
At that time there were some new online training offerings that had just entered the aviation market. We conducted a market study that found that the existing online offerings in the marketplace were either cheap and of poor quality, or very expensive. There was a gap in the market, and a need for a quality online training product, supported by real people, at a mid-range price point.
Training is absolutely critical to safety in aviation, and high-quality training is the foundation for safety in the industry. Since we wanted to make a difference in the industry, TrainingBoom was born!
We started with our first client in 2008. While online training is the future, it’s proven in higher education and nearly 25% of our market has already shifted from classroom training. Yet over the years our clients have learned that we’re not just a software company; we’re a group of people committed to providing high-quality, cost-effective pilot training.
